Shopping Local on Small Business Saturday

Celebrate Small Business Saturday by supporting your favourite local businesses!

Small Business Saturday is an annual movement on November 26th encouraging Canadians to visit small, local businesses during the holiday shopping season.

It was started by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) and American Express and is supported by Canada Post.

“Small businesses are big contributors to their communities and in turn, shopping local makes a big difference for our neighbourhoods and the broader Canadian economy,” said Laura Jones, Executive Vice-President at CFIB.

Here are 3 reasons to feel great about shopping local:

1. You’re supporting Canadian workers:

10 million Canadians work at small & medium-sized businesses*

2. You’re supporting local causes:

2 in 3 small retailers donate time & money to local charities**

3. Your dollars stay local:

69% of small retailers buy from other local businesses**

Whether it’s having a delicious meal, buying Holiday gifts, or enjoying a drink, every little bit goes a long way.

If you're a Canadian small business owner interested in celebrating Small Business Saturday the CFIB encourages you to visit SmallBusinessEveryDay.ca for free tools and resources, including printable posters and digital images.
